Obituary

Listen to Obituary

Meredith Hope Granger, 15 years old, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, October 9, 2026. She had a valiant fight with a rare ovarian cancer. She walked that path without complaint and was faithful in her walk with Christ to the very end.

Meredith was our sunshine and joy. The fruit of the spirit was evident in all aspects of her life. Some of her greatest loves were music and theater. She enjoyed attending theater plays with her mom and sister Lydia, so much so they held season tickets together. Meredith’s love of music filled the home as she learned to play piano and often shared time at the piano with her dad where they encouraged each other by glorifying the Lord through music. This past summer she realized a dream of learning to play a few songs on the fiddle. Her favorite fiddle tunes were “I’ll Fly Away” and “When the Roll is Called up Yonder”. She enjoyed playing these fiddle tunes and building confidence for dad to join her on guitar.

Games were something that she and her brother Ted enjoyed together; whether board games or video, they were tight friends and companions. Meredith and sister Lydia, had a close friendship and often shared ideas for their personal craft projects with each other that included sewing, crochet and art projects.

Meredith loved going to the beach in Saint Augustine, Florida to play in the water and build sand sculptures. She found the trips to the ocean with family relaxing. It was a favorite place to be and began to call it “our heart home.”

As a sophomore in high school, she was a diligent student and worked hard in her studies. She loved a lot of different art media forms, but especially watercolor. It was her intention to become an art teacher in a Christian school.

Meredith was born and raised in Rives Junction, Michigan, until 2023, when the family moved to Goode, Virginia. She is survived by her parents, Mark and Ashlee Granger, siblings Lydia and Theodore (Ted) Granger. She is also survived by grandparents, Dave & Darleen Granger and Arnold & Becky Dolman, as well as aunts, uncles and many cousins.
