Sgt. Mayburn Leslie Hudson, 21, of Lynchburg, Virginia was a member of the 83rd U.S. Infantry Division, 330th Infantry Regiment. His regiment was tasked with capturing the French Coastal towns of Dinard and St. Malo on August 7th, 1944, during World War II. During the assault his squad came under heavy German mortar fire killing Mayburn and his entire squad.
Mayburn will be laid to rest on August 7th, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. in Fort Hill Memorial Park, next to his family, exactly 80 years to the day that he was killed in action in northern France.
Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg is assisting the family.
