Maurice Hunt

Maurice Sherrill Hunt (affectionately) known as "Pooh" in the early hours of Monday morning, May 20, 2024, God sent his angels for a devoted son, father, brother, nephew and friend.

Maurice was preceded in death by his grandparents, Glenn and Elsie Witcher, Dorothy Coleman, George G. Alexander Sr; uncles, Kent "Boo" and George "Gee" Alexander; George Dyke; and a brother Antonio "Pig" Hunt.

Left to cherish his memory are his parents, Anthony "Tony" and Debra Alexander; his children, Kamari Johnson, Keyairra Jones, Makayla Hunt, Keon Hunt, Kassidy Hunt and Kaliq Gray; two brothers, Corlester (Cheryl) Hunt and Quincy Hunt; a special cousin who he called his sister Catrice Witcher; an aunts and uncle Frances (Aaron) Hunt, Will (Emma) Witcher, Glen Witcher, Jane Jones, Fred Witcher, Kevin Alexander, Deborah Dyke, Tonnie Witcher and Rochelle (Jeffrey) Robey. A devoted cousin Laverne Crawley, a special friend and mother of three of his children Kamesha Jones. Great aunts and uncles Katherine Scarborough, Rosa Bellamy, George Thompson Jr and Harold Alexander; a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends that meant the world to him.

A funeral service will be held Saturday, May 25, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg. Interment will follow in Harris Family Cemetery.
