MaryAnn L. Schad

MaryAnn Lucy Schad, beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on August 29, 2025, in Lynchburg, Virginia, at the age of 92.

Born on May 3, 1933, in Newark, New Jersey, MaryAnn was the daughter of the late Jennie Leonard and Louis Amaro. She grew up in New Jersey, where she met and married the love of her life, Gottfried William “Bill” Schad. Together, they shared 40 wonderful years of marriage until his passing.

A devoted homemaker, Maryann found joy in creating a warm and welcoming home. She loved gardening, cooking, and spending time with her family. Her Catholic faith guided her life, and she will be remembered for her kindness, generosity, and strength. She was a wise woman who often reminded those she loved to always put family first.

Maryann’s greatest pride was her family. She is survived by her daughters Cynthia Munczinski and her husband Scott, and Karen Vassar and her husband John. She was the cherished grandmother of Steven Munczinski, Kyle Munczinski, and Kathryn Trant, and the adored great-grandmother of Vincent Hiskey, Violet Hiskey, and Marissa Munczinski.

She spent her final moments surrounded by her loving children and grandchildren, a reflection of the deep family bond she nurtured throughout her life.

Maryann will be laid to rest through cremation. A private family service will be held at a later date.

Her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
