Mary Sophia Bartram, 70, of Madison Heights, passed away March 21, 2013. Born in Pocahontas, Virginia on July 9, 1942, she was preceded in death by her parents, Noah William and Mary Margaret Shumate; her sisters, Constance Vera Knowles and Dorothy Bettina Cox; her brothers, George Virgil Shumate, John Howard Shumate, Noah William Shumate, Jr., and Walter Lesley Shumate; and her son-in-law, Gustav Heinrich Stalling IV.

She is survived by her husband, Frank Wolfe Bartram; her daughter, Mary Bartram Stalling of Lynchburg;  her daughter, Theresa Bartram Schwab and her husband Kurt of Apex, North Carolina; her son, Frank William Bartram and his wife Lesley; and her step-grandchildren, Thomas Gailor Garner IV and Clara Elizabeth Scott Garner, all of Midlothian. Her sisters, Rosalie Cecelia Rocchetti and her husband Mosie of Princeton, West Virginia and Barbara Lynn Shumate of Bluefield, West Virginia; and her brothers, Vincent Edward Shumate and his wife Sue of Abbs Valley, Virginia and James Lee Shumate and his wife Carol of Wilmington, Delaware.  Mary was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church for 40 years. She was a devoted wife, mother, sister, and friend. Mary loved her family dearly. She enjoyed gardening, the outdoors, her pets and grand-pets and she was always available to help an individual or family in need. Mary touched many lives and will be greatly missed and her memories cherished.

A private family service will be conducted at a future date.
