The Lord called Mary Elizabeth Harris Henley Rogers, 90, of Lynchburg, home after abrief illness on Wednesday, July 10, 2013. She was the wife of the late FloydJackson Henley and the late Martin M. Rogers.
Born in Spotsylvania, April 15, 1923, she was a daughter of the late Rev. Linwood Fleming Harris and Edna Gatewood Cobb Harris. She is also preceded in death by a sister, Evelyn Virginia Stevens.
Mary is survived by her sons, Jack W. Henley and his wife, Barbara, Danny R. Rogers, daughter, Debbie R. Walker and her husband, Gene.; three grandchildren, Jamey Rogers, Donald Henley and wife, Michelle, Wende Gaylor and husband, Daryl; eight grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson; also nephew, Owen Stevens and wife, Diane; longtime special friend, Patricia Harrison; caregivers, Janet Unger, Mary Ann Wilson and her beloved dog Cody.
The family will receive friends at Thomas Road Baptist Church (Pate Chapel) on Saturday, July 13, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. A funeral service will be held after the visitation, Saturday, July 13, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at Thomas Road Baptist Church (Pate Chapel) with the Pastor Jonathan Falwell and Rev. Roy Newman officiating. Interment will follow in Fort Hill Memorial Park.
