Mary Ellen Lightle

Mary Ellen Lightle, 98, of Lynchburg died November 22, 2023, in Lynchburg, VA.

Mary Ellen was the widow of Robert “Bob” Lightle, and they shared 64 years together. Their family had been an important part of their lives. Their sons and daughters-in-law include Craig Lightle and his wife, Donna, who reside in Alexandria, VA.  Bruce (predeceased by his wife, Joyce) resides in Copley, OH.  Kevin and his wife, Olivia, dwell in Lynchburg, VA. Also surviving are Mary Ellen’s sister, Norma, of Carlsbad, CA and many beloved cousins, nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and three great granddaughters.

Mary Ellen loved life and all that goes with it.  Her fondest dream as a girl was to travel and she and Bob did that, both as a part of Bob’s occupation and then in retirement.  She played a lousy game of golf, enjoyed a challenging game of bridge and was a willing volunteer at the church and in the community.

A memorial service will be held at a future date.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church Education Fund in Lynchburg, VA.
