Marsha Allen Burks, 74, of Lynchburg, Virginia, passed away on July 13, 2026. She was the daughter of the late Harry "Gene" Pearson and Neta Pearson.
Marsha was born in Talladega, Alabama. She made Lynchburg, Virginia her home for 57 years. She attended Radford College and went on to earn her Master's degree from Lynchburg College. She devoted over 30 years of her life to special education, teaching in Bedford County and Campbell County, where she touched the lives of countless students and families.
Marsha was a woman of deep faith and was an active and beloved member of Chestnut Hill Methodist Church. She and her mother shared the joy of teaching Sunday school together, a cherished tradition that reflected her lifelong commitment to her community and her God. She had a gift for music and found great joy in playing the piano. Her love for animals was a defining part of who she was.
Marsha is survived by her sister, Patricia Lane and her husband Steve Lane of New Market, Alabama; her nephew Michael Abrahm Pearson of New York City and his husband David Grabert; and her beloved neighbors and dear friends, Chet and Mary Walker, whose kindness and companionship enriched her life immeasurably.
In addition to her parents, Marsha was preceded in death by those who welcomed her home.

A memorial service will be held on August 27, 2026 at 11:00am at Chestnut Hill Methodist Church, 4660 Fort Avenue, Lynchburg, Virginia 24502.
