Mark Allen Worrell

Mark Allen Worrell, 57, of Roanoke passed away on April 10, 2026. He was born in Roanoke on October 21, 1968 to the Robert Donald Worrell and Jackie Chumbley Worrell. He was preceded in death by his father.

Mark was often called a fiercely loyal friend. He was ready to assist any of a number of the friends who he held dear over the course of decades. His vibrant smile and hearty laugh changed any room or situation for the better. An exceptional businessman, Mark started his career in the restaurant industry and later moved onto jewelry sales. His greatest professional success was his over 25 years working with Blue Cross Blue Shield plans. He worked for Anthem in sales for many of those, and then became an outstanding senior manager with Health Care Service Corporation in Chicago. Continue using these exceptional skills at Advance Auto’s national call center in Roanoke.

Mark had a profound appreciation for history and the finer details of the past, which was reflected in his avid interest as a history buff and his love for collecting antiques. He was known for his love for Christmas, having put up 14 Christmas trees. Mark also enjoyed traveling to the beach.

He is survived by his mother, Jackie Worrell; step- mom, Gayla Worrell and uncle, David Surface. He leaves behind a host of heartbroken family, godchildren, and friends.

A gathering of friends will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 25, 2026 at Tharp Funeral Home, Bedford.
