Marie Elizabeth Bates passed away on January 15, 2021. She was born in Harrisburg, PA on December 6, 1929. Preceding her in death was her husband of 64 years, Stanley Calvin Bates, her son Jeffrey Ross Bates and her grandchild Brandon Lewis Bates.
Surviving her are her children, son Stanley Bates II, daughter Lora Eddington (Bill), and daughter Lisa Geier (Dan). Also surviving are daughter-in-law Bonnie McHaney and grandchildren Brian Ross (Lauren), Christopher Geier, Zachary Geier, James Eddington, Stanley Bates III, Anthony Bates (Melissa), Lorrisa Wilkerson (Wes), Jason Bates (Laura), Joshua Bates (Christy Lynn), Jacob Bates (Kelly) and Colton McHaney; and 8 great-grandchildren.
She was a homemaker, golfer and enjoyed taking care of her grandchildren. The family wishes to thank the caregivers at Heritage Green Assisted Living for being there with her over the last year when we could not. A private family service will be held at Tharp Funeral Home on Sunday, January 17th at 2pm.
