Margurite Fuqua Booker of Lynchburg, Virginia, entered into eternal rest on Saturday, February 28, 2026, at her residence surrounded by love. She was born on January 24, 1939, in Lynchburg, Virginia, to the late Ethel Fuqua Thompson. In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Oscar L. Booker, Sr., and her brother Wilfred Stanley Thompson.
Margurite joined Fifth Street Baptist Church at an early age. She served faithfully on the Senior Choir, being the youngest member at the time, the Mass Choir, the Directory Ministry, & New Member Ministry.
Margurite was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She will truly be missed by her family, her friends, and her community.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her brother, Harry Sherwood Thompson, two sisters, Valerie Pullen and Vanessa Wright; two children, Oscar L. Booker, Jr. and Felicia Booker; three granddaughters, Tamika Lyle, Trevieta “TK” Booker, and Sedora Booker; three grandsons, Lloyd Cobbs, Kenai and Rajan Booker-Felder; three great grandchildren, Xiion, Xamera, and Lea Highsmith; as well as a host of loving nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
A celebration of life will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Friday, March 6, 2026, at Fifth Street Baptist Church.
Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory, Lynchburg, is assisting the family.
