Margaret Ada Durham Young, 81, of Moneta, died Sunday, December 13, 2015. She was the loving wife of U.S. Air Force pilot, Col. Keith Roy Young for 56 years.
Born November 22, 1934 in Pontiac, Illinois she was a daughter of the late Charles Durham and Nolan Parsons Durham.
Margaret raised two sons: Brian Young of Huntington Beach, Calif. and Erick Young of Carmichael, Calif., she is also survived by her sister: Judy Moerke; grandchildren: Lauren and Owen Young; and her beloved Chihuahua, Ginger.
She lived in Hawaii, the Philippians, Castle Air Force base in Calif, and Goose Bay Labrador Air Force base in Canada. She retired with Fairfax County as a librarian.
Her and her husband lived at Smith Mountain Lake in Moneta from 1996 until present.
A memorial service will be held Monday, December 21, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. in Diamond Hill Baptist Church in Moneta. Inurnment will take place in Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory, Smith Mountain Lake is assisting the family.
