Lucy Lee Raven, affectionately known as “Aunt Lou”, departed this life peacefully on April 26, 2026, at the age of 86. Born on August 3, 1939, she was a lifelong resident of Evington, Virginia. Lucy was the beloved daughter of the late Starling Scott and Mary Ward Scott.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Willie James Raven, Sr.; her brothers and sisters, Steptoe Scott, Otha Scott, Francis Allen Scott, George Scott, Garland Scott, Alphonso Scott, Eula West, Hassie West, Alta Mae Quarles, Gilbert Herndon, and Evelyn McDaniel; and grandsons, Orlando “OJ” Haskins and James “BJ” Horsley.

Lucy leaves to cherish her loving memory her children Willie Raven, Jr., Zelda Raven Anderson, Lisa Leonard, her siblings, Jeanette Davis, Edna Bryant, Cary Herndon, Vastine Payne, and Mary Mickles. She was a proud grandmother of seven grandchildren, including one devoted granddaughter, Quanisha Raven, and a host of great-grandchildren who brought her immense joy. A loving circle of nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends will also treasure her memory.

Lucy attended Campbell County schools and continued her lifelong career within the school system. She retired from Tomahawk Elementary School as the Head Custodian after 23 years where she became known as the “Queen Bee”. She was a faithful member of Crossroads Baptist Church of Evington, Virginia where she was known for her beautiful and stylish hats.

She has a warm and gentle spirit. She was sweet, loving, dependable, and truly one of the rarest people you could always count on. She found joy in baking, sewing, gardening vegetables and flowers, traveling, birdwatching and loved her Westerns. One of her most cherished memories was a surprise Caribbean cruise which she spoke of often reflected on with great smiles and laughter. She loved spending time with her family and never missed watching Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy! In the evenings. She was admired and respected by all who knew her.
