Louise Crawley Womack was born in Bruceton, Tennessee on August 24th, 1930, and now has left us to join her husband, Robert, in the next life. Only a short time ago, she was playing the piano and working with the choir chairperson for church services at The Summit, where she had been living for the past five years. During that time she made and helped many friends there who will sorely miss her.
During her lifetime she taught at Lynchburg College for 22 years, having come to Lynchburg with Bob in 1963, where he had taken a position with Babcock and Wilcox at Mt. Athos. During their time in Lynchburg, they joined the Fine Arts Center chorus for a number or years and did a lot of singing with friends. They also were members of the choir at St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church at Forest for many years, and then at Westminster Presbyterian Church under the direction of Bob Blevins. “Music is good for the soul,” she often commented.
Louise was predeceased by her husband after nearly 57 years together. She was also predeceased by her parents, Lloyd Erwin Crawley and Birdie Jane Lancaster Crawley, and by her sister, Christine Crawley Taylor. She is survived by her two children: Vicki Womack Stamp, who lives in Casper, Wyoming with her husband, Robert Stamp, and Thomas Lee Womack, who lives in nearby Goode, Virginia. She has three grandchildren; Dave Stamp living in Anchorage, Alaska, Jeff Stamp and his wife, Erin, living in Minneapolis, Minnesota, and Laura Stamp in college in Williamstown, Massachusetts.
