Louis A. Madonia
Louis A. Madonia, 70 of Lynchburg, was called home on Monday, August 6, 2012, at Lynchburg General Hospital. He was the loving husband of Faye P. Madonia for nineteen years.
Born Tuesday, April 7, 1942 in Staten Island, NY, a son of the late Luciano Madonia and the late Ruth Huey Madonia.
True to his Italian heritage and Catholic faith, Lou was a graduate of St. Clare\"™s in Staten Island, NY. He served his country in the United States Marine Corps where he held 1st chair in the Marine Band and was recently honored at Berkeley Plantation at their 1962 Centennial Celebration for playing Taps there 50 years ago. He was the trumpeter for the \"original\" Bill Deal and The Rhondels. He retired from J.B. Moore Electric Company.
Lou loved his Corvette and was a member of the Virginia Corvette Club and a member of the Moose Lodge #1727.
In addition to his wife Faye, he is survived by his children: Skipper Madonia (Sheri), Beth Toth (Gary), Janyce Goff and Greg Sandidge (Tammy); six grandchildren: three brothers: Billy Madonia, Wayne Madonia, and Sylvester Madonia (Lois), two sisters: Ruthie Kolbenson (Charlie) and Jerry Eckberg (Kenny).
The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM on Friday, August 10, 2012, at Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory, 220 Breezewood Drive, Lynchburg, Virginia.
A graveside service will be held at 2:30 PM on Friday at Fort Hill Memorial Park with the Reverend R. James Gallagher officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to American Lung Association, 9221 Forest Hill Road, Richmond, VA 23235.
