Linda Plummer Trevey, 73, of Sebring, Fla., went home to be with her Lord February 19, 2016, while under the care of Good Shepherd Hospice in Sebring, Florida. She passed with her husband, children, and brother by her side.

Linda was born on March 7, 1942, a daughter of the late Roy L. and Ronie B. Plummer.

She is survived by her devoted husband, Jerry Jones Trevey; her sister, Mary Lou Bass in Durham, N.C.; and her brother, Ronnie L. Plummer in Winston Salem, N.C.

She also leaves behind four loving children, a daughter, Leigh Trevey Tanner and her husband, Hal, and their four children, Georgia, Hil, Margaret and Mary Crawford of Goldsboro, N.C.; a daughter, Kimberly Trevey Hewett and her husband, Ron, and their three children, Carson, Winston and Trevey Ann of Nashville, Tenn.; a daughter, Mary Trevey Ragsdale and her husband, Will, and their four daughters, Elizabeth, Lucy, Mary Katherine and Addison of Jamestown, N.C.; and a son, Christopher Plummer Trevey his wife, Jane, and their sons, Walker and Whit of Greensboro, N.C.

In addition, Linda leaves behind a sister-in-law, Betty Trevey Blue and her husband, David of Lynchburg, Va.; a brother-in-law, Jim Trevey and his wife, Donna of Richmond, Va.; and numerous nieces and nephews living in California, Illinois, Kentucky, North Carolina, Texas and Virginia.

Linda graduated from Morehead High School in Eden, N.C. and attended Campbell University in Buies Creek, N.C. After finishing school, she married Jerry and they started their lives together in Blacksburg, Va. They then moved to Big Island, Va., Lambertville, Mich., and then to Salisbury, N.C. While in Salisbury, she partnered with others to start a successful residential real estate business, and was active in many civic organizations, as well as the First Presbyterian Church.

Linda and Jerry then moved to Chicago for the last decade of his career. Upon retirement, they moved to Terrapin Mountain outside of Big Island, Va., where Jerry was born and raised and they became active members of the Big Island Baptist Church. There they built their beloved family farmhouse at the foot of the mountain, which became the family homestead and host for hundreds of family holidays and unforgettable memories.

She was an avid golfer, gifted gardener and loyal friend. Linda was truly a people person with a contagious and beautiful smile. She thrived in their new Florida community of Sun n Lake, where they spent their winters golfing and playing cards with new and old dear friends. Linda was well-loved by all who knew her, but her greatest legacy will surely be her children and thirteen precious grandchildren whom she adored. She was above all else a wonderful wife to Jerry, an amazing mother, and a remarkable grandmother. She will be greatly missed by so many, but showed us all a great example how to live a life of humility and tenderness and how to think of others before ourselves.

Philippians 2:3: Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility, consider others better than yourself. This passage represents concisely who Linda was.
