Linda Kay Boyd Carter, 77 of Madison Heights, Virginia passed away Thursday July 9, 2026 at Lynchburg General Hospital. She was born on March 20th. Proceeded in death by her parents, Jesse Robert, and Iris Hope Boyd and grandson William Boyd Carter, Jr. Kay retired from the R.R. Donnelley Printing in Lynchburg, Virginia where she worked many years, and built close friendships with her co-workers. Kay was loved by many, and had dear friendships some lasting 50+ years. Just to name a few Carolyn, Barbara, Phyllis, Sue, Bonnie, Debbie, Frances, Sharon, Faye. Many cousins, family members and close friends to mention. She was very active in the community in events, gathering, and socializing on her morning errands. The impact she had in a positive way to so many people in her lifetime on Earth is a true blessing. Always with a smile on her face, and an upbeat attitude on life and having fun. She loved to have a good phone conversation to catch up. The Young & The Restless was a must in the afternoons, and a good show on T.V. She followed Dallas, American Idol, Blue Bood, Marshals, Rookie, Yellowstone, the Chosen series and all the others she looked forward to skipping the commercials to view that were essential entertainment over the years.
Kay is survived by her 3 sons, William Boyd Carter (Shannan), Jeffrey Alan Carter, Andrew Clay Carter, as well as a step son George Edward Carter (Eddie) 2 grandchildren Kelsey Dawn Carter-Moore(Jonathan), Karli Jean Carter, and Step granddaughter Shelby J. Woody. 2 great grand children Cassadee, and Riley Moore.
A church service will be held Saturday August 1, 2026 at E.U.M.S. located at 401 N. Main Street, Amherst Virginia 24521 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Jeffrey Campbell conducting the service. The church will begin seating at 10:15 a.m. for anyone who would like to arrive early to pay respect. Following the service, refreshments will follow in the kitchen/food hall below the sanctuary.
