Linda Kay Ferry

Linda Kay Ferry, 71, of Lynchburg, Virginia, passed away on May 3, 2026. She was the daughter of the late Jack Driskill and Judy Driskill.

Kay was born on December 13, 1954, in Lynchburg, Virginia. She attended school at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University and went on to pursue a successful career in addition to being a devoted homemaker.

Kay will be remembered not only for the care she gave within her home, but also for many other talents. She was an excellent cook and had a natural gift for gardening. She took great pride in nurturing the many flowers and plants around her home. In addition, she loved spending time with her friends, particularly her book club and her garden club. She also loved her role as being “Gammi” to her two grandchildren, Gordon and Aiden.

Kay is survived by her children, John R. Ferry III, Bryan Ferry, and Lauren Merck; grandchildren, Gordon Merck and Aiden Merck; and siblings, Jack Driskill, Joan Moyer, Barry Driskill, and David Driskill.

In addition to her parents, Kay is preceded in death by her late husband, John “Ranny” Ferry Jr.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Lynchburg Humane Society.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, May 14, 2026 at 4:00 p.m. at Tharp Funeral Home with a memorial service to follow at 5:00 p.m.
