Leonard Wayne Banks, Sr.

Leonard Wayne Banks Sr., known as "Wayne," of Roanoke, VA, was called home to be with his heavenly Father on Thursday, December 4, 2025. He passed away at Lynchburg Health and Rehab following a short illness.

Born on February 28, 1960, in Lynchburg, VA, he was the son of the late Mr. Carrington Banks Sr. and Mrs. Francis Pearl Turner Banks of Lynchburg. Though he was born in Lynchburg, he moved to Roanoke a few years later.

Wayne leaves to cherish his memories, his son, Leonard Wayne Banks Jr., and two beautiful granddaughters, Lynasia Banks and Zye'Layah Banks of Lynchburg. He is also survived by three brothers: Rev. Carrington Banks Jr. and his wife, Minister Dorothy; Harold L. Banks and his wife, Diana, of Brownsmill, NJ; and Warren Banks of Roanoke. His memory will be further honored by his two sisters, Edna Rose and Glenda, along with her husband Randall, of Lynchburg. He also leaves behind a devoted friend, Ms. Maryland Williams of Roanoke, as well as a host of loving nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 27, 2025, at 11 AM at Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg.
