Leland James Toler, Jr., 74, of Mount Olive, NC, died Sunday, August 13, 2017 in Lynchburg, VA with his daughter Bridget at his side.
Leland was born November 27, 1942 in Johnston County, North Carolina, a son of the late Leland James Toler, Sr. and Arabia Mae Langston Toler King. Leland honorably served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War and achieved the rank of Chief Petty Officer (retired). He was a gifted marine electrician and could accomplish anything working with his hands.
He is survived by his daughter Bridget Hubble-Carson and her husband, Patrick, of Lynchburg, VA; his granddaughter Meagan Giron and her husband, Alex, of Lynchburg; four great-grandchildren: Nolan, Natalia, Patrick, and Bridget; three sisters: Martha Wolf, Nora Tipton, and Ruby Tobin; five brothers: Larry Toler, Samuel Toler, Danny Toler, Jack Toler, and Michael King; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, August 17, 2017 at Princeton Cemetery, Princeton, NC, with Pastor Raymond Russell officiating.
Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory, Lynchburg, is assisting the family.
