Lawrence (Larry) Robert Timmins, Sr.

In loving memory of our amazing husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, we honor and celebrate the one-year anniversary of Larry’s passing.

Lawrence (Larry) Robert Timmins, Sr., 83, of Moneta, Virginia passed away on January 16, 2025.

Larry was born on July 23, 1941, in Allentown, PA, to the late Robert Augusta and Dorothy Isabelle Timmins.

Larry is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Jane Dillard Timmins. Larry and Jane were fantastically married for over 62 years. Larry has two children: Toni M. Shaner (Steve) and L. Robert Timmins (Laura); 4 Grandchildren: Ashley Halsey (Scott), Josh Shaner, Cayly Timmins and James Timmins; 2 Great-Grandchildren: Kinsley Rose Halsey and Darci Mae Halsey; many loving relatives and friends.

In the year since Larry passed, it has given his family time to reflect on the legacy that he left behind. A consistent emphasis on how Larry prioritized his family in all decisions and actions he made in his life. The Timmins, Shaner and Halsey families have learned and continue to model Larry on the importance of family. This has never been more apparent than the bond, support, care, and love that everyone has shown towards Jane and each other during this first year of grieving. Larry would be proud!

Another reflection of Larry’s legacy is the calm kindness and unconditional support that he demonstrated towards his love ones. The addition of grandkids to his life and the commitment of an increased level of care towards Jane brought out the best in Larry. Larry left this world as a servant leader to others.

A private celebration of life was held in Larry’s Happy Place. Many of our wonderful family memories, including this celebration, occurred on and around the water at Smith Mountain Lake. SML has been Jane and Larry’s permanent home for over 20 years and more importantly his family’s place to gather, to love, and create memories for over 50 years.

If desired, to honor Larry on this first anniversary of his passing, please make contribution in his name to the SML Good Neighbors, Inc, a local organization to help our youth in need. Visit website @ www.smlgoodneighbors.org or mail check to SML Good Neighbors Inc., P.O. Box 2, Moneta, VA 24121.

Tharp Funeral Home has been a great support for Larry’s family.
