Lawrence Edward Maddox
Lawrence Edward Maddox, 78, of Lynchburg, died on Tuesday, February 15, 2011. He was the loving husband of the late Betty Wilkerson Maddox for 53 years.
Lawrence was born on April 16, 1932, in Lynchburg. He was the son of the late John Henley Maddox and the late Lula Ponton Maddox.
He is survived by a son, Michael Lawrence Maddox of Amherst; a daughter, Susan Maddox Barbour of Madison Heights; two granddaughters, Lauren Barbour of Monroe, and Gail Wood and husband, Chris, of Evington; a greatgrand-daughter, Adriana Barbour of Monroe; and a brother, John A. Maddox of Bedford.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was also preceded in death by a son-in-law, Roy Barbour.
The family will receive friends at Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory, 220 Breezewood Drive, Lynchburg, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 17, 2011. A Funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, February 18, 2011, at Clearview Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Wayne Greene officiating. Interment will be in Clearview Baptist Church Cemetery.
