Larry Dale Chrisman, 78, of Bedford, Virginia, formerly of Irvine, Kentucky, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Thursday evening, November 6, 2025.
Born June 1, 1947, in Madison County, Kentucky, he was the son of the late James Edward Chrisman and Opal Mae (French) Chrisman.
Larry was a faithful servant of the Lord and a longtime member and deacon of Bethlehem Baptist Church in Berea, Kentucky. His quiet strength, humility, and devotion to Christ were evident in the way he loved and cared for his family and served his church and community.
He was married to his beloved wife, Joan Rose Chrisman, for over 59 years. Together they built a home filled with faith, joy, and love.
Larry is survived by his loving wife, Joan Rose Chrisman; his sons, Rodney Dale Chrisman of Bedford, Virginia, and Larry Shane Chrisman and wife Melissa of Pikeville, Kentucky; and by his cherished grandchildren Sierra Hope Chrisman, Alexis Danielle Chrisman, Victoria Faith Chrisman, Elijah Rodney Chrisman, Samuel Rodney Chrisman, Abraham Rodney Chrisman, Olivia Grace Chrisman, Averie Elizabeth Chrisman, Emarie Eden Chrisman, Isaiah Tyler Ratliff, Emma Grace Ratliff, and Madilyn Gail Ratliff, as well as great-grandson Waylon Isaiah Ratliff and a great-granddaughter due in January.
He is also survived by his sisters, Shirley Berryman (Bob) and Brenda Kay (John), and by his sister-in-law Judy Chrisman, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.
In addition to his parents, Larry was preceded in death by his brother, James Douglas (“Jim”) Chrisman; his nephew, Jeffrey Chrisman; and his daughter-in-law, Heather Lanea (Finley) Chrisman.
Larry loved farming, repairing and working on things, and spending time with his family. He found joy in working with his hands, sharing stories, and helping others. His life was a testimony of steadfast faith, humility, love, and service.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, November 10, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at Tharp Funeral Home, Bedford, Virginia, with Pastor Virgil Hurt officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
There will also be a celebration of life held at Bethlehem Baptist Church, Berea, Kentucky, on Saturday, December 6, 2025, at 1:00 p.m.
