Kenneth Wayne "Kenny" Yarborough, 72, of Madison Heights, Virginia, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 1, 2026, at VCU Medical Center.

Born on July 21, 1954, in North Carolina, Kenny was the son of Betty Moore Yarborough and the late Gordon Kenneth Yarborough. He was also preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Fannie Yarborough; his maternal grandparents, Aaron Moore and Nellie Simmons Moore; and other beloved family members.

Kenny is survived by his devoted wife of nearly 48 years, Marion Katherine Smith Yarborough. Together they built a life centered on love, faith, and family. He also leaves behind his son, Jonathon Yarborough and wife, April; Shannon Yarborough; Heather Rosser and husband, Barry; his brother, Greg Yarborough and wife, Robin; his special aunt, Katherine Moore; his mother-in-law, Marion Smith; his sister-in-law, Karen Nemitz; his cherished grandchildren, Madeline Yarborough, Tessa Yarborough, and Connor Yarborough; and two children who were like grandchildren to him, Bella Staton and Baylee Mays. He is also survived by his close friends, Charles Scott and Gary Rowsey, along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and many dear friends.

Kenny was a hardworking man who spent his career in construction as a form setter. He took great pride in providing for his family and was known for his strong work ethic, generous spirit, and willingness to lend a helping hand whenever it was needed.

Above all else, Kenny loved his family. He treasured every opportunity to spend time with those he loved and rarely missed a family gathering, sporting event, or special occasion. His grandchildren were the light of his life, and nothing brought him greater joy than watching them grow.

If you knew Kenny, you knew his passion for fishing. No matter the season, if there was a fish biting somewhere, Kenny was determined to find it. Whether on the water with family or friends, those moments brought him peace and happiness.

Kenny was also a faithful member of Harvest Field Pentecostal Church, where he loved his church family and found great strength in his faith.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 7, 2026, at Smith Family Cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the procession at Tharp Funeral Home, Madison Heights, where those attending the graveside service are asked to gather by 10:00 a.m. to process to the cemetery together. Kenny will also lie in repose for those wishing to pay their respects on Thursday, August 6, 2026, at Tharp Funeral Home in Madison Heights.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society in Kenny's memory.
