Kenneth Warren Wright

Kenneth Warren Wright, 78, quietly passed away at his home on September 20, 2026. He was the third of four sons of Frank B. and Julia Hughes Wright, and for 52 years the husband of Susan Burnett Wright.

Kenny was born August 26, 1948, in Lynchburg. He was a 1966 graduate of E.C. Glass High School, studied for two years at the newly founded Central Virginia Community College, and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree at the University of South Carolina.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Blair Wright; son Nicholas C. Wright; granddaughters Barrett and Parker Cobb; brothers James W. and David G. Wright; and by his brothers-in-law, Robert (Bobby) and David Burnett. He was predeceased by his parents, his brother, Frank B. Wright III, and his brother-in-law, Kenneth Burnett.

Kenny’s artistic talent and passion for art emerged in early elementary school. He developed his talent in high school and at USC and refined it further under the watchful eye of his father, who operated a commercial art studio from 1944 to 1996. Kenny worked for his father until 1992, serving major local clients including Craddock-Terry Shoe Corp., Lane Furniture, First Colony Life and Central Fidelity Bank. With his father’s blessing, he left the business to retrain in computer-based graphic design. He took his newly acquired skills to Craddock-Terry Shoe Corporation, producing their widely distributed Masseys Shoe catalogue. In 1999 he founded Kenneth Wright Design and provided graphic art services to a number of major clients, including Pyrocool, the National Home Builders Association, the National Air Transportation Association, and Jan Tana.

For 60 years, Kenny was a member at the Downtown YMCA, where he had a second family of staff and friends.

Above all, Kenny’s greatest joy was spending time with his family. He especially looked forward each year to gathering his wider family for Thanksgiving.

A celebration of his life will be conducted at Rivermont Evangelical Presbyterian Church on Wednesday, October 7, at 11:00 am, with a reception to follow.
