Kathleen Farthing

Kathleen May Mathews Farthing was born on January 16, 1936 in Campbell County Virginia to Elmo and Gladys Mathews. She was a

1954 graduate of E.C.Glass High School in Lynchburg,Virginia where she was most likely known as 'Pete'. In February of 1955 she married

Wayne Farthing and together they had 6 children, 2 girls and 4 boys. Kathleen was a stay at home mother until the children were in school.

She began working outside the home, first at G.E. then at Nationwide Insurance. There she was known as 'Kat'.

Sadly Kathleen and Wayne lost two sons during their life together, but went on to happily welcome 10 grandchildren and 16 great grands with 1 on the way.

Kathleen was a maker of many things and a great gardener. A social butterfly who enjoyed lunches out with friends, bus trips to anywhere, and family beach trips. She took pictures of everything and had albums filled with memories. Kathleen, Pete or Kat, however you remember her, was small but packed a punch! Her energy was boundless and she lived life to the fullest! Even through the hardships, great loss, caretaking, assisted living and the passing of her husband, she hardly ever complained.

Kathleen passed away on May 1, 2025.

She was in her 89th year.

She will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed by her family and friends.
