Junior Lee Whorley

Junior Lee Whorley, 74, of Big Island went to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, January 22, 2011 at the home of his daughter. He was born in Bedford County on April 28, 1936, a son of the late Stonewall Jackson Whorley and Nannie Spence Whorley.

Junior was a retired painter, loved blue grass and country music and was an Army veteran.

He is survived by two daughters, Dana Whorley of Richmond and Michelle Crawford (Charles) of Bedford; a son, Stephen Whorley of Bedford; five grandchildren, Haley, Dacota, MacKina, Alora and his unborn granddaughter, Madison; a brother, Curtis E. Whorley (Becky) of Forest; three sisters, Betty Wilson of Thaxton, Helen Powell and Doris Thomas both of Natural Bridge and a special nephew, Ronnie Whorley.

Visitation will be held at Tharp Funeral Home Monday, January 24 from 2:00 until 4:00 and also from 6:00 until 8:00 PM. Funeral Services will be conducted at 11:00 AM Tuesday, January 25 at the Tharp Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Donnie Glass officiating. Burial will follow in Hunting Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
