Judy K. Steele

Judy Knisley Steele 79, of Goode, passed away on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, at her residence. She was born on March 18, 1947, in Harrisonburg, VA. A daughter of the late Forrest and Nellie Rivercomb Knisley. In addition to her parents Judy was preceded in death by her sister, Bucky Coffey and a brother, Sonny Knisley.

Judy retired as a communication specialist with Verizon. She attended Norwood Baptist Church. She loved her family dearly and enjoyed spending time with each of them especially time with her children and grandchildren. A loving wife, mother, sister, aunt and friend to so many. Judy and her husband loved their trips to Myrtle Beach, and she also enjoyed crossword puzzles and word searches. She was loved deeply by her family and will be missed in the days ahead.

Left to cherish her memory is her loving husband, William “Bill” Steele, Jr; two children, Samantha Steele Hughes and her husband, James and William “B.J.” Henry Steele, III and his wife, Whitney; three grandchildren, Brooklynn Hughes, Layne Hughes, and Mackenzie Laine Steele; two sisters, Rita Fisher and her husband, Tom and Pat Curran and her husband, Larry; one brother, Gary Knisley; one brother-in-law, Darrell Coffey. Also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews, other family members and so many friends.

A graveside service and celebration of Judy’s life will be conducted at 1:30 on Monday, September 28, 2026, at Virginia Memorial Park with Pastor Sam Stump officiating. The family will receive friends from 11:00 am until 1:00pm at Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory, Bedford also on Monday, September 28, 2026, prior to the service.
