Judith Vallastro Proffitt

Judith Vallastro Proffitt, lovingly known as Judi, passed away peacefully on July 25, 2026, in Lynchburg, Virginia, at the age of 94. Born in St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands, Judi lived a life filled with creativity, love, and devotion to her family and passions. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 72 years Erskine Profitt. Their marriage was a testament to lifelong love, deep commitment, and shared joy.

Judi graduated from Brookville High School and carried her vibrant spirit into every aspect of her life. She was an accomplished artist whose talent and dedication were evident in her work. As an active member of the Seven Hills Art Club, she found joy in sharing her artistic gifts with others and fostering a community of creativity. Her passion for art was not just a hobby but a defining part of who she was—a reflection of her boundless imagination and zest for life.

Judi cherished her home at Smith Mountain Lake, where she found peace and inspiration surrounded by nature's beauty. Her love for her family was unwavering; she held them close to her heart and took immense pride in their lives and accomplishments. Those who knew Judi will remember her as a kind and loving soul whose personality could light up any room she entered. Her loyalty to her friends and the warmth she shared with everyone around her left an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Judi is survived by her daughters, Cindy Jester (Steve) of Lynchburg and Rhonda Klokow (Raoul) of Kennesaw, Georgia, as well as her adopted nephew, Gary Proffitt of Altavista and his daughters Lexi and Amber.

She was the loving grandmother to Scott Jester (Meghan) of Salem Virginia, Kelly Klokow of Atlanta, Georgia, Joe Klokow of Kennesaw Georgia, and three great grandchildren, Beckett, Porter, and Abigail.

Judi's memory will live on through the countless lives she touched with her kindness, artistry, and radiant spirit. May those who knew and loved her find comfort in the legacy she leaves behind-a legacy of love, creativity, and joy.

A Funeral Service will be held on Sunday August 2, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Tharp Funeral Home, 220 Breezewood Drive, Lynchburg Virginia, followed by a reception. A private burial will be held on Monday August 3, 1:00 p.m. Virginia Memorial Park, Forest Virginia.

The family would like to offer their appreciation to dedicated caregivers Kathleen Wilsey and Marlo Henry and special friend Sandra Newby.
