Judith Lynn Godfrey Floyd, 77, of Bedford, Virginia, passed away on Tuesday, November 3, 2026. Born on August 29, 1949, she was the daughter of the late Robert Edward Godfrey, Sr. and Freeda Lou Sowers Godfrey. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert Godfrey, Jr. and Rickie Godfrey.
Our family will forever cherish the love, kindness, and countless memories she leaves behind. She was a loving mother, a devoted Nana, and a blessing to everyone fortunate enough to know her. She had the most caring heart, a willingness to help anyone in need, and a strong faith in God that guided her throughout her life. Her presence brought comfort, her laughter brought happiness, and her love brought us together.
She found joy in the simple things in life, whether it was bird watching, playing card games on her phone, or enjoying the magic of Christmas. Christmas was especially dear to her heart, and she loved looking at Christmas lights and taking in the beauty of the season. These little things brought her happiness and are among the many special memories her family will cherish.
She was the heart of our family, the person who made everyone feel loved, cared for, and at home simply by being there. The bond she shared with her daughter Wendy and granddaughter Chelsea was something truly special. For Wendy, she was more than a mother; she was a lifelong source of unconditional love, strength, and guidance, whose lessons will remain with her forever. For Chelsea, she was so much more than a Nana; she was a second mother, a best friend, and a constant presence throughout every chapter of life. From childhood memories to the privilege of being there for her as she grew older, their bond was one that time could never weaken. She was blessed with the joy of becoming a great-Nana to Oakley, creating four generations of women, forever connected by a love that will never be broken.
While our hearts ache knowing we must say goodbye, we find comfort in knowing that her faith has led her home. We will miss her hugs, her voice, her stories, and all the little things that made her who she was. Her love will never leave us, and her memory will forever be a part of who we are. There will never be another quite like her, and we will forever be thankful that we got to call her Mom, Nana, and ours.
Judith is survived by her daughter, Wendy Ramsdell (Jason); son, Calvin Lee Floyd; grandchildren, Chelsea Wilson (Daniel), Tristan Floyd, and Madison Floyd; great-grandchildren, Oakley, Carter, Wyatt, and Lillian; sister, Kim Underwood; and numerous other family and friends.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Jasmine at Oakwood for the extraordinary care and compassion she provided to Judy. Our family will always be grateful.
We love you, Mom and Nana. Thank you for a lifetime of unconditional love, cherished memories, and a legacy that will live on through all of us.
As per Judith’s wishes, there will be no services.
