Joyce Ann Whitted

On Friday, February 20, 2026, Joyce Ann Whitted departed from this life at Lynchburg General Hospital. She was born on September 13, 1962, to the late Mr. James “Kilroy” Whitted and Mrs. Janice Whitted.

Joyce grew up and lived her whole life in Lynchburg, VA where she was a hard-working woman and held positions at Bank of America, Genworth and was currently working for DXC Technology. Joyce enjoyed gardening, traveling, reading murder mysteries, and an avid collector of clown art. Joyce was also very devoted to her family. She helped care for her mother and father when their health declined. Joyce truly loved all her “babies” and even though she never had children of her own she made all her nieces and nephews feel like they were her own, Joyce was a huge stable in the family and carried on family traditions until her last breath.

She leaves to cherish precious memories six siblings: James “Jake” Whitted Jr. (Stephanie), Ralph Leroy Whitted (Sharon), Shirley Whitted, Linda Comer (Rozelle), Sandra Dixon (Micheal), and Gary Whitted. Eight nieces and nephews: Zebia Christian (Carlos), (Tracey Beasley (Benny), Zina Whitted, Adrian “A.J.” Whitted (Dana), James “Lil James” Whitted III (Choyce), Jonathan Whitted (Sara), Danielle Whitted, and Joshua Dixon (Brittani). Twelve great nieces and nephews: Rakeem, Roshad, Brendan, Ava, Alana, Aliyah, Kendrick, Wesley, Nova, Savannah, Victoria, and David. Along with a host of other relatives and friends that loved her very much.

A celebration of Joyce's life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, March 2, 2026, at Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg. The family will be receiving friends from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 1, 2026, at Tharp Funeral Home.
