Joyce K. Houston, born on December 11, 1925, died on Wednesday, October 10, 2018.
She was predeceased by her parents, Harry R. and Maude M. Kirkpatrick; her husband of 59 years, Johnnie R. Houston; her brothers James, Thomas, Reginald, and Edwin Kirkpatrick; sisters Nannie Kirkpatrick, Mildred Beard, Arlene Hackett, and Naomi Major; sister-in-law Margaret Kirkpatrick.
Joyce is survived by her son Russell Houston (Leslie) of Columbia SC; daughters Julie Fry (John) of Midlothian, Jayne Geris (Pete) of Forest, and Sharon Houston of Lynchburg; seven grandchildren Jenny Wimer (Chris); Jesse Geris; Caleb, Sarah, and Hannah Houston; Cory and Chris Gilliam; and two great-grandchildren, John Patrick and Carter Nye Wimer; her brothers Kenneth Kirkpatrick (Joyce) of Harpswell ME and Clifford Kirkpatrick of Forest; her sister Rebecca Myers (Landon) of High Point NC; and long time devoted family friend, Frank Harris of Lynchburg.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 13, 2018 in Fort Hill Memorial Park.
The family wishes to extend its appreciation to the staffs of Runk and Pratt-Leesville and Seven Hills Hospice for their care and support.
