Joshua James-Philip Thomas, 35, of Appomattox, VA, passed away at his residence on July 9, 2026. 

Joshua was born in Lynchburg, VA on June 3, 1991, to LaJuan Antoinette Thomas. Joshua was preceded in death by his Grandfather James “Peanut” Thomas, his aunt Belinda Thomas and Uncle Delaware Hicks (Staffon), and father-in-law Charles Coffey Jr. 

Joshua graduated from Heritage High School. He was a dedicated employee of Shentel for 10 years. He had a passion for technology, video games, music, drones, building guns and target shooting. He found great joy in playing drums at Kingdom Power Worship Center. He will be remembered for his kind heart, gentle spirit and unwavering love for his family and friends. He had a warm smile, a generous nature, and quiet strength that brought comfort to those around him. 

His memory will forever be cherished by his wife, Robin Thomas, his bonus children Gabrielle Hall and Jaedyn Henry, his mother LaJuan Thomas, and his mother-in-law Amy Coffey, sister-in-law Hannah Coffey-Hill (Hunter Hill) and River, brother-in-law Steven Trowbridge, his siblings Kinnadi Thomas, Zoey Towe, Zimari Towe, and a bonus dad Wendell Towe. He also leaves to cherish his memory Phyllis Thomas (Nana), his Aunt Sharon Beaden (Cornelius), his great aunts Milford Thomas, Laverne Thomas, Yvonne Anderson (James), Sarah Williams, and Michelle West, a special cousin Jackie Bradley and a host of family, friends and colleagues.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, July 14, 2026 from 6:00P.M. - 8:00P.M. at Tharp Funeral Home Lynchburg location. Mr. Thomas will also be available for viewing during that time.
