Jerome Watson Elliott

Listen to Obituary

The Lord called and I answered Him. Cry if you must but know I am at rest.

Jerome Watson Elliott, 65, of Concord, Virginia, was called home to eternal rest on August 23, 2026. Jerome “Dobie” Elliott was born December 31, 1960, to Bertha Elliott and the late Kermit Elliott.

He attended Rustburg High School, where he graduated in 1979. He pursued a 20-year career at Burleigh Construction as a foreman until his retirement in 2023. Even longer than his career in construction, he was known as everyone’s favorite DJ (known as DJ Dobie).

In addition to his father, Kermit Elliott, he was preceded in death by his grandparents, Royal “Buster” Cox and Lessie Cox, his beloved aunts, Linda and Noma Cox, and uncles, William and Royal “Popeye” Cox Jr.

Jerome gave his life to Christ at an early age when he joined Pilot Mountain Baptist Church.

He leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife of 12 years and caregiver, Danetta Elliott; his mother, Bertha Elliott; and brother, Thurston Elliott. He leaves seven children: his daughter and caregiver, Charmaine Farmer, Kameshia Farmer, Tenesia Horsley; and sons, Nygeal Andrews (Anne), Juwan Irving, Levar Farmer, and Charles Horsley; and one beautiful granddaughter, Penelope Andrews. He also leaves a host of beloved aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.

We would like to extend a special thank you to Centra Health Hospice.

Even with the changes in his memory, he never forgot a friendly face or the powerful words of the Lord’s Prayer—a testimony to his faith.

Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name;

thy kingdom come; thy will be done;

on earth as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses,

as we forgive those who trespass against us.

And lead us not into temptation;

but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, the power and the glory, for ever and ever.

Amen.

Matthew 16:9-13
