Jennifer Wilson Green, 86, passed away suddenly on Saturday, May 16, 2026.
A longtime resident of Westminster Canterbury in Lynchburg, Jenny was a devoted member of St. John’s Episcopal Church in Bedford, where she found faith, friendship, and community through the Altar Guild and choir. She was also an active member of P.E.O. Sisterhood, where she enjoyed working alongside both new and lifelong friends in service and fellowship.
Throughout her life, and even in her final days, Jenny remained full of life, energy, and independence. She was happiest in her car, setting out on the road to run errands or visit family and friends. Whether it was a short drive to Bedford to arrange flowers at St. John’s or a long road trip to see loved ones, she treasured the freedom of going places and staying connected to the people who meant the most to her.
In many ways, Jenny’s passing reflected the life she loved. She suffered a medical emergency in her car at the church after helping organize a yard sale for P.E.O. She died doing something she loved, in a place she loved, surrounded by people she loved.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Ted, who passed away in 2017. We take comfort in knowing she is once again beside the love of her life.
She is survived by her three children, Ann, Bo, and Will; her three grandchildren, Maddie, Walter, and Connor; and her three siblings, Leslie, Dede and John.
Jenny will be remembered for her warmth, determination, generosity, and the deep care she showed to family and friends throughout her life, always putting others first. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 AM on June 20, 2026, at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Bedford with a reception to follow.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. John’s Episcopal Church, 314 North Bridge Street, Bedford, VA 24523.
Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory, Bedford, is assisting the family.
