Janie Hutter Preston Walton, 85, of Lynchburg, died Friday, September 27, 2013, at Westminster Canterbury. Born November 2, 1927, at \"Sandusky,\" she was the daughter of Ferdinand Lee Hutter and Janie Cunningham Hutter, and was the widow of James Robert Preston and of William Carter Walton. Mrs. Walton is survived by her two children, Stannard Hutter Preston, of Lynchburg, and Alan Stuart Preston, of Phoenixville, Pennsylvania, one grandson, James Risque Preston, also of Phoenixville, her sister, Lottie Kemp, of Charlottesville, and brother, George C. Hutter, of Richmond, and their families.
Mrs. Walton spent her professional career in banking and was a lifelong lover of music. She sang, played the piano and organ, and was a faithful supporter of the music department at Randolph-Macon Woman\"™s College and the noon organ concert series at Court Street United Methodist Church. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, regularly volunteering there and at Virginia Baptist Hospital.
Funeral services, led by the Rev. John Scholer, will take place at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 12, 2013, at First Presbyterian Church, followed by a reception at Westminster Canterbury\"™s Fauber Rooms.
