Janet Underwood Russ, 84, of Lynchburg, died Wednesday, June 27, 2018. She was the loving wife of the late Clarence Austin Russ.
Born August 12, 1933, in Lynchburg, she was a daughter of the late Thomas Booth Underwood and the late Louise Wheelwright Underwood. Janet was a member of Beulah Baptist Church.
Janet is survived by her three sons, C.A., Jr. and his wife Mary, of Chantilly, Thomas W. and his wife Linda, of Sterling, and John R. of Lynchburg; her daughter, Alice L. and her husband James Slack, of Las Vegas, NV; and her grandchildren, Edison, Damian, and Timothy.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, July 2, 2018 at Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory, Lynchburg. A celebration of life will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, July 3, 2018, in the Chapel of Tharp with the Rev. Dr. Dennis Hollandsworth officiating.
Interment will follow the service in Fort Hill Memorial Park.
