Jane Alford Sims
Jane Alford Sims, 87, of Lynchburg died Saturday May 14, 2011. She was the loving wife of the late John H. Sims, Jr.
Jane was born October 19, 1923 in Orange, Texas a daughter of the late Steve A. Alford and Joyce Powell Alford. She honorably served her country in the U.S. Navy during World War II, was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, the Lynchburg Kiwanis Club, served on the Board of Directors with the Virginia Seniors Golf Association, worked as Vice-President with Sims Wholesale.
Mrs. Sims is survived by a daughter Leslie S. Pelton and her husband George of Suffolk, a son John Sims and his wife Peggy of Goodview, a daughter Lauren S. Miller and husband Ben of Texas, and a son William J. \"Jut\" Sims of Lynchburg, a sister Joyce Vorman of Mass., and a sister-in-law Kate Alford of Louisana, seven grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by one grandchild.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday May 21, 2011 at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church Columbarium with the Rev. Dennis Roberts officiating. A reception will follow in the church fellowship hall.
