James Edward Jones

James Edward Jones (Jay Jay), Jr., 55, of Lynchburg, Virginia passed away on May 29, 2026. He was the son of late James Edward Jones and Teresa Allen.

James Edward Jones, Jr. was born on March 17, 1971, in Lynchburg, Virginia. He attended school at Amherst County High School, then pursed his career in construction and free lancing.

James Edward Jones, Jr. was a member of Mount Olive Baptist Church and enjoyed helping his neighbor and family. He found joy in his mother’s home cooking, he was always the life of the party, dancing until the end of the night.

James Edward Jones, Jr. is survived by his daughter, Brittany Clark; granddaughter Zoliah Johnson; mother, Teresa Allen; sister, Loverine Jones; aunts, Joyce, Edith, and Junita Turner; uncles, Mac Jones (Mary Helen Jones) and Daniel Turner (Brenda Turner); nieces, Nia Chiles and Renesha Johnson (Charles Johnson III); and great nephew, Charles Johnson IV; and numerous cousins and friends.

In addition, James Edward Jones, Jr., is preceded in death by grandparents Eldridge Jones and Bertha M. Jones; Simon and Velma Turner; and Father James Edward Jones.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday June 4, 2026, at 3:00 p.m. at Tharp Funeral Home with Rev. Ronnie Haynes of Berry Hill Baptist Church officiating and Rev. Kelvin Brown of Mount Olive Baptist church completing the eulogy. A visitation will be held on June 4, 2026, at 2 p.m. at Tharp Funeral Home. Following the service, the family will observe a private period of mourning.
