James Franklin Sharp, Jr., 87, of Lynchburg, died on Tuesday, December 18, 2012. He was the husband of Doris Miller Sharp. James was born on May 27, 1925 in Chippewa Falls, WI a son of the late James Franklin, Sr. and the late Anna Peterson Sharp.
In addition to his wife, James is survived by daughters, Nancy D. Szatkowski and husband, David of Mequon, WI and Kathryn L. Miles and husband, William of Gainesville, FL; two sons, James A. Sharp and wife, Karen of Forest and Thomas P. Sharp and wife, Barbara of Warrenton; one sister, Norma S. Schlintz of Bedford; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by one brother, Thomas M. Sharp.
James was the retired owner of S & N Volkswagen, and a longtime avid outdoorsman and hunter. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army Air Corps having served his county as a navigator during WWII in the Pacific.
A memorial service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 22, 2012 at Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg with the Rev. Ken Burger officiating. Military honors will be conducted by American Legion Post #16. The family will receive friends one half hour prior to the service.
