Jack Michael Jones, 95, passed away on December 5, 2025. He was the son of the late Eugene Gilliam Jones and Dera McCann Jones.
Jack was born on October 13, 1930, in Bluefield, WV. He attended school at Pocahontas High School, then pursued his education at Concord University on the GI Bill, earning a BS in Business, and later obtained his master’s in education from Virginia Tech. He worked and retired from General Electric.
He was a proud veteran of the Korean War, serving in the Air Force. He later joined the U.S. Navy Reserves and was called up during Operation Desert Shield stationed in Washington DC. Where he retired as a Master Chief Petty Officer (MCPO) with several medals and accommodations.
Throughout his life, Jack was a member of the American Legion Post 16, Lynchburg Gun & Knife Club, Masons Eubank Lodge, and QMPC. He enjoyed hobbies including antiquing guns, coins, knives, and collectibles.
He was also the author of three books focused on Coal Mining and Lynchburg Early Picture Postcards.
Jack is survived by his son, Kevin Lee Jones, grandchildren, Cady Elizabeth Jones, Hannah Elizabeth Ortiz, Michael McCann Jones, one great grandchild, Jackson Manuel Davila-Ortiz, and numerous nieces and cousins.
In addition to his parents, Jack is preceded in death by his wife, Ann Francisco Jones, his son, Jack Michael Jones, Jr. and his daughter in law, Cynthia Little Jones.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Legion Post 16, located at 1301 Greenwood Dr., Lynchburg 24502.
A funeral service will be held Friday, December 12, 2025 at Quaker Memorial Presbyterian Church at 11:00A.M. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow the service at Virginia Memorial Park.
