Irma Richardson Burguet, 94, of Forest, Virginia, passed away on February 4, 2026. She was the daughter of the late Stanley Lamar Richardson and Irma Teal Richardson of Belzoni, Mississippi.
Irma was born on January 6, 1932, in Belzoni, Mississippi. She attended University of Mississippi, Ole Miss, for two years.
Irma was a member of Marsh Memorial Church in Lynchburg, Virginia and the Daughters of the American Revolution. Irma enjoyed a lifetime hobby of reading and a great love for her dogs.
Irma is survived by her children, Julia Maria Smith of Forest, Virginia and Richard Lamar Burguet of Eustis, Florida. She is also survived by her son’s four children and seven great-grandchildren. Plus, Irma is survived by four nephews, the only children of Irma’s deceased sibling, Charlotte Richardson Gregory of Blacksburg, Virginia.
In addition to her parents, Irma is preceded in death by her husband, Jorge E. Burguet of Camaguey, Cuba. Jorge and Irma were married February 11, 1952. The couple resided in Jackson, Mississippi where they raised their children. In 1976, Jorge and Irma moved to Clearlake, Texas where Irma pursued a career as a Librarian. Upon retirement in 1998, Irma moved to be near her daughter, Julia, in Melbourne, Florida. In 2014, Irma moved to Eustis, Florida and resided in the home of her son, Richard. In 2022 until her death, Irma resided in the home of her daughter, Julia, in Forest, Virginia.
Irma was cremated on February 11, 2026 in Lynchburg/Forest, Virginia. Her cremation was on the same date as her wedding anniversary in 1952 and, the same date in 1984 when Jorge was buried in Friendswood, Texas. At this time no date for a memorial service has been determined. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to your local animal shelters.
