Imelia "Nita" Culpepper, age 69, went to be with her Heavenly Father peacefully at her home with her children on June 11, 2026. Nita was born in Lynchburg, VA, on August 4 1956, to the late Joe Randy Culpepper and Gloria Austin Culpepper. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by daughter, La'Keisha Culpepper; the love of her life Alphonso S. Donigan; three brothers, Robert, Calvin, and Clarence Culpepper; two sisters, Anna Ferguson and Mary Culpepper; and two sisters-in-law, Joyce C. Brown and Elizabeth Culpepper.

Nita accepted Christ at an early age at Mt. Obed Baptist Church in Concord, VA. Never having to work, she was a stay at home mom that had a hand in all of the children’s upbringing in our family.

Imelia is survived to cherish her memories by her loving daughters, Genise Phillips, Samantha Payne, Quenstance Culpepper, Trica Culpepper and Lennora Culpepper. In addition she also leaves her siblings, Joseph Culpepper, Stella Culpepper and Ellner "Pat" Culpepper; her over protective grandchildren, Arnold Culpepper, Zikkie Franklin, Zu'cord Payne, Tamia Payne, Tamria Payne, Da'Lijah Culpepper, Erion Marshall and Eric Marshall Jr; great grandchildren, Bradyn Banks, Zion Payne, Zi'elle Franklin, and Nyomi Busby; a devoted niece, Keyonna Culpepper; nephew, Gregory Culpepper; loving and devoted great nieces, Kiara Culpepper, Jasmine Rucker and her "boolie-boo" Kanasia Napier; two caring and protective great nephews, Desmond Rucker and Kevonte Napier; and her only god son, Devonte Morris, all of Lynchburg, VA; and a host of other loving relatives and dear friends.

A funeral service will be held at 3:00P.M. on Thursday, June 18, 2026 at Tharp Funeral Home Lynchburg Chapel. Ms. Culpepper will lie in repose for viewing one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at The Baptist Cemetery. The repast will be at the Hunton Randolf Community Center located at 1120 12th street Lynchburg, VA.
