Ida Jessie Manley Hill Smith, 92, of Big Island, VA went to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, January 27, 2026. She was born on May 25, 1933, the daughter of the late Robert (Nance) Manley and Lillian Tooley Manley. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her two husbands, Bob Hill and Robert (Bobby) Smith; sisters, Thelma Petty and Patria (Pat) Johnson also two brothers, Talmadge Manley and Wesley Manley.
She was a caregiver for her mother and Daddy and for many years for her husband, Bobby who was disabled. Ida was a hard worker all her life, she would make pies and cakes to sell to get money for the Christmas offering at her church, Grace Memorial Baptist Church, which she loved and was very faithful to drive a long way to get to.
Ida is survived by brothers, Earl (Bo) Manley of Bedford and John Manley (Judy) of Forest. She leaves behind many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews as well as good friends.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff at Oakwood Manor for your good care of Ida during her stay there.
A visitation will be held on Saturday, February 7, 2026, at Tharp Funeral Home, Bedford from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m., at 3:00 p.m. there will be a time of reflection for comments. Her Pastor Greg Rogers will also share some memories and have prayer.
A private burial will take place at Hunting Creek Baptist Church Cemetery in Big Island due to the weather.
