Hubert Wayne Jones

Hubert Wayne Jones, 87, of Red House, Va, went to be with his Heavenly Father on Saturday, May 12, 2018.   He was a devoted and loving husband to his bride, Nancy Taylor Jones for 47 years.

Born on Tuesday, August 26, 1930 in Appomattox County, Wayne was a son of the late Dillard Jones, III and the late Reba Lea Matherly Jones.

In addition to his parents, Wayne was preceded in death by two sisters and three brothers and a grand-daughter, Genna Chambers Wiley.

In addition to his wife, Wayne is survived by his children, Julia Chambers Austin, and her husband, Bill, Nancy Chambers Andrews, and her husband, Dexter, and

Thomas Harold Chambers, III, and his wife, Melanie, a brother, Garland Jones and his wife, Jane, a sister, Florence Jones West and a large and loving extended family that were the treasures of his life.

Wayne proudly served his country for 22 years during the Korean Conflict and in the Vietnam War as a member of the U. S. Army, He was retired from the Army and B & W. He was a man of faith and longtime member and Deacon at Providence Baptist Church and served as a Gideon for 21 years. He loved his wife and his family, his God, and his community.  For years he enjoyed gardening and when no longer able, he continued to learn as he took up carving and painting and revealed hidden talents.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM on Wednesday, May 16, 2018 at Providence Baptist Church, in Red House, Virginia and a celebration of Wayne’s life will follow immediately thereafter at 11:00 AM.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to The Patrick Henry Boys Home in Brookneal or the Barksdale Cancer Society in Charlotte County.

The family would like to express sincere appreciation to his art teacher and dear friend, Susan Weatherly Book and his angel on earth, Teresa Haskins.
