Howard Dan Maddox

Howard Dan Maddox, 62, of Amherst, Virginia, passed away on Sunday, September 21, 2025. He was the son of the late Joe Grafton Maddox and Lois Campbell Maddox.

Howard was born on August 2, 1963, in Virginia. He attended Amherst County High School and later continued his studies at Central Virginia Community College. He worked as a machinist and mechanic throughout his life.

He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church and participated in various hunting clubs. Howard enjoyed the outdoors—hunting, fishing, and shooting matches were among his favorite pastimes.

Howard is survived by his loving wife, Kathleen Diane Maddox; his children, Amanda, Zachary, and Cecilia; his grandchildren, Memphis, Emersyn, and Ethan, Preston, and Weston; and his brother, Joe Maddox Jr. He also leaves behind his faithful pets, Bunky, Lola, and Lasko, along with numerous nephews and cousins.

In addition to his parents, Howard was preceded in death by his sister, Emma Sue Maddox, and his brother, Glen Alan Maddox.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, October 5, 2025, at 3:00 p.m. at the Maddox residence, with Pastor Clint Walker officiating.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Camp Bethel at Bethel Baptist Church.

Howard will be remembered for his love of family, his devotion to the outdoors, and the countless memories made with a fishing pole in hand.
