Homer Mooneyham
Homer Mooneyham, 75, of Moneta, VA, died Friday, October 29, 2010 at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital. Born Monday, January 07, 1935 in Cocke County, Tennessee, he was a son of the late Rube Mooneyham and Ider Presnell Mooneyham.
Homer is survived by his wife of 56 years, Sherrill Messer Mooneyham, his children; Leonard Mooneyham and his wife, Rachel, of Thaxton, Geraldine Smith and her husband, Hank, of Goodview, Teresa Kidd and her husband, Thomas, of Bedford, James Mooneyham and his wife, Kelly, of Goodview, and Marty Mooneyham and his wife, Amber, of Bedford, eight grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, a brother; N.T. Presnell and his wife, Marie, of Seattle, WA, three sisters; Bessie Shetley, of Newport, TN, Essie Burgin and her husband, Roy, of Delrio, TN, and Shirley Willett , of Jonesborough, AR.
Homer will be remembered as a God loving man, husband, father, and grandfather, who would do anything for his family. He never judged any one. He always found good in every one and everything. Besides hunting, fishing and woodworking, he loved to tell a good joke or story. Homer loved gardening and especially sharing his vegetable garden with family and friends. He will be missed as an angel among men.
A Funeral Service will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. on Monday, November 01, 2010 at Tharp Funeral Home, Bedford with Rev. Johnny Basham Rev. Jimmy Dooley, and Rev. Kyle Dooley officiating. Burial will follow in Holy Land Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1 P.M. to 4 P.M. on Sunday, October 31, 2010, at Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory, Bedford, (540) 586-3443.
