Herbert Leslie Robertson

Herbert Leslie Robertson, 79, of Lynchburg, died Wednesday, December 1, 2010.  He is survived by his wife, Joyce Whitten Abbott.  He was preceded in death by Shirley C. Robertson, his wife of 47 years.

Mr. Robertson was born May 30, 1931 in Forest, son of Virginia D.  Robertson of Forest and the late Wilbur Robertson.  He proudly served our country in the U.S. Army.  He was retired from Rock-Tenn where he was a machinist.  He was a member of Forest United Methodist Church and Good News Singers Gospel Group.

He is survived by his children, Leslie Mateer and husband, Dirk, of Bellefonte, PA, LeeAnn Wood and husband, Aubrey, of Lynchburg, and Lloyd Robertson and wife HeeSun, of Alexandria; Joyce\"™s children, Michael Abbott and wife, Patti, of Salem, and Glenn Abbott and wife, Anne, of Knoxville, TN; his siblings, Ernest Robertson and wife, Martha, of Lynchburg, Sedella Austin and husband, Joe, of Grand Prairie, TX, Henry Robertson and wife, Edith, of Forest, Rebecca Tinnell of Forest, and Earl Robertson of Forest, and eight grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM on Friday, December 3, 2010 at Tharp Funeral Home, Lynchburg.  A celebration of Herbert's life will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Saturday, December 4, 2010 at Forest United Methodist Church with the Rev. Bill Burliegh and the Rev. Lenn Lloyd officiating.  Interment will follow in Virginia Memorial Park.
