Harold McWane Plott , “Mac”, of Rustburg, quietly passed away at his home on August 20, 2026. The earthly battle ended for this upbeat fighter. He was born on March 16, 1967 to Harold Lee Plott and Alice Cyrus Plott in Lynchburg, Virginia.
Mac, as many knew him, will be remembered for his love of his family, dedication to his church, and his passion for fishing, bowling and troubleshooting anything mechanical. He also loved very much his country in which he protected and served.
He is survived by his parents, Harold and Alice Plott; daughter Kaitlyn Plott Cutler and her husband Jeff; grandchildren Ava and Jayden Cutler; sister, Teresa Putt and her husband Danny; nephews Daniel Putt and Cameron Putt. He was preceded in death by his grandson, Jayce McWane Cutler.
Mac leaves behind best friends Roy Little and Melvin Bell, as well as the tales of all of their adventures.
He proudly served in the United States Airforce for 10 years. He was Operations Specialist / Senior Airman as aviation mechanic on the F-111 Supersonic Bomber and member of the 48th TFW Medical Decontamination Team. He completed a tour of duty in Desert Shield /Desert Storm. He was recognized for excellent performance and setting high standards in his service.
After his military service, he became an employee of Truck Body Corporation. He worked there for many years until his decline in health. He loved his work and coworkers there.
On January 7, 2024, he received the precious gift of a new heart . This heart blessed him with healthier years to enjoy life again. He had the honor and opportunity to meet his donor’s family. There are now new family members that are cherished.
In his decline in health over the years, he was seen as an inspiration and one that never gave up, he was truly a miracle man. All Glory to God!

Lynchburg General Hospital Cardiovascular staff; Dr.DeVore and Duke Cardiovascular staff ; Duke University Heart Transplant Program; Doug Pickern and family (heart donor); Big Island Baptist Church; Truck Body Corporation; Jason Miller – U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs and all of our family, friends, coworkers and community churches that have been with us throughout this season with Mac. The prayers, love, gifts, meals and support throughout this journey will never be forgotten and forever appreciated.
The funeral service will be Saturday, August 29 2026, at 2 pm at Big Island Baptist Church, Big Island, Virginia. Family visitation will be one hour prior to service. Dr. Monty Fox and Dr. Robert Putt will officiate. Military honors to follow at Sunset Hill Cemetery, Big Island, VA.
