Harold "Jay"
Taylor, Jr.
Apr 28, 1968 — Oct 14, 2026
Harold R. Taylor, Jr., affectionately known as Jay, passed away on October 14, 2026. Born on April 28, 1968, in Charles County, Maryland, Jay was the beloved son of the late Harold R. Taylor, Sr. and Shirley Snow Taylor.
Jay was a kindhearted man who had a special way of bringing smiles and laughter to those around him. He believed in making people laugh, lifting spirits, and enjoying the simple moments that make life meaningful. Whether through his sense of humor, his generous heart, or simply being himself, Jay had a way of leaving an impression on the people he met. He valued the people in his life and created memories that will be cherished by those who knew and loved him.
One of Jay’s greatest passions was riding his Harley. The freedom of the open road brought him joy, and his love for riding was a reflection of his independent spirit and love for life. For Jay, it was more than just a ride, it was a feeling of freedom, peace, and happiness. Those who knew him will always remember his love for his Harley and the smile that came with it.
Jay leaves behind a loving family and many dear friends who will miss him deeply. He is survived by his daughter, Ashley Hall of Virginia; his significant other, Veriti Overby of Virginia; three cherished grandchildren; his brother, Charlie Taylor of Maryland; his sister, Debra Thompson of Virginia; his nieces and nephew; and a host of friends who were fortunate enough to know him.
Though Jay’s time here has come to an end, the love he shared, the laughter he brought, and the memories he created will live on in the hearts of those he leaves behind. His presence will be missed, but the joy he brought into the lives of others will never be forgotten. May those who loved Jay find comfort in remembering his good heart, his laughter, and the happiness he found riding his Harley with the wind in his face and the open road ahead.
“Ride free, Jay. May the road rise to meet you, the wind always be at your back, and may your laughter echo forever in the hearts of those who love you. You will be deeply missed and never forgotten.”
Funeral and memorial service arrangements will be announced at a later date.
Tharp Funeral Home & Crematory, Lynchburg, is assisting the family.
